It’s been over a month since I last sat down and wrote something on Medium. Not because I lost interest — far from it. Sharing my work online is now one of my favourite pastimes and I’m so grateful to have discovered this amazing community.

I am currently on a leave of absence from university until next year and, since this period started, I have wanted to prioritise learning new skills and make the most of my time off.

Blogging was at the top of the list — before my break, I had always liked the idea of writing online but could never actually bring myself to commit. Now I had no essays to write, I told myself I had no excuse and jumped straight into the Medium community.

However, I also loved the idea of sharing my passion for sign language and, a few weeks ago, I decided to focus on a new side project and create an online course. Completely new to video editing, I did my research, bought a camera, downloaded some editing software and got straight to work.

After many hours of filming, re-filming, editing and re-editing, British Sign Language for Beginners — Course 1 is now available on Skillshare.
